Why India Fellow
Our best hope for the future of the country lies in the power
and effectiveness of socially motivated, highly empowered individuals to fight
for changes in the way we live, think and behave.
Young people shape the destiny of any country and more so for India where youth
comprise 60% of the total population. Some of them are in schools and colleges
- bubbling with ideas, energy and enthusiasm. They have the willingness to take
on new challenges, forever ready to take on the world. Yet there is a need to
connect them to the real issues that are facing India.
A study conducted by iVolunteer found that there is very little understanding
of volunteerism, a general lack of awareness about the development challenges
that India faces and very little connect with rural India.
This fellowship programme provides young students with an opportunity to
experience rural India and its development challenges in the hope that they
will one day contribute in an active way.
