“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve… You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.” — Martin Luther King, Jr. Each year, various organisations put together programs for Daan Utsav (earlier Joy of Giving Week) to help feed, clothe and take care of those less fortunate. There is a remarkable amount of time, energy and money that goes into these programs. Often, though, they remain programs that involve giving some money or material in a way that the giver doesn’t make any emotional connects with the act of giving, and hence doesn’t experience joy. People wonder how they could make a difference in the world, but perhaps don’t have as much time as they'd like. An act of kindness need not be a huge one to make a difference. A journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step, and this can get millions started. All too often, those in need are the easiest to overlook. Busy in our lives, we hardly get time to stop & share a word of comfort. We do want to help out but we don’t know where to start. A sandwich is the easiest way to start a conversation with anyone. This campaign is an opportunity for you to chat & listen to the stories of elderly people; their circumstances & their challenges. iVolunteer brings you an opportunity to join, share & build a new appreciation – for a simple act of kindness which can make a big difference.
