Mentor Youth Virtually- Antarang Foundation
Program Name : Antarang Mentors of Mumbai Program
Project Background:
Antarang Foundation is an NGO that promotes self reliance in youth from economically vulnerable backgrounds to plan and start their careers. It provides training ( 3 months CareeReady Program ) on employability skills and connects them to relevant employment linkages. Mentors of Mumbai is an opportunity for experienced working professionals to act as a role model and provide guidance and insight to these youth. The vision of the program is to promote their academic, career and social development. This involves a commitment of 4 hours a month for a year with a group of 2 to 4 young people. Mumbai based professionals across all sectors, locations and levels are invited to provide guidance and direction to youth starting their professional journey.
Youth Profile:
The Antarang youth are between the age group of 18-28 year across low-income areas in Mumbai. Our presence is in locations such as Dharavi, Kurla, Govandi, Ghatkopar, Cuffe Parade, Parel, Andheri, Santacruz etc. Majority of our students are in Education and employment and very few are school dropouts and into vocational training.
Key project objectives:
● Assist mentees in thinking through and defining their career-related goals and
transitioning into the next big step
● Personal and professional development of the mentees
● Empower mentees to aspire and progress towards achieving a promising career
● Expose the mentees to a realistic professional life and environment
Key project deliverables :
● 4 hours a month i.e 2 Virtual sessions a month
● Weekly check in with mentees
● 12 Months mentoring journey
● Filling and sharing monthly feedback/updates
● Enabling the mentees' progress along employability parameters
Expected learning for the volunteer:

Volunteer Requirements :
● Working Professionals are preferable with a minimum of 3+ years of work experience
● Educational Qualification - Graduate in any discipline
● Language Proficiency - English and Hindi
● Essential skills - Fluency in English, Communication, Empathy, Motivation, Time
commitment, Work ethics
● Desired attributes - Enthusiastic, Active listener, Helpful, Patience and Committed
