About the NGO:
Vidyadaan Sahayyak Mandal (VSM) is an assurance of help to needy and deserving students, more than a funding source. While education was perceived as an effective tool for upliftment of the underprivileged, developing an all-round personality and character is the tool for shaping the future generation.

Each student is allotted a Mentor (guardian parent), who visits the mentee's house, meets his family and understands his background. This helps in winning the trust and confidence of the student as well as his family. While keeping track of the mentee's academics, the mentor provides a strong psychological support too. Nurturing is an on-going process at VSM.

Annual events and workshops are planned, taking into consideration the needs, capabilities and ambitions of the students. Events like Be Frank and Residential Camps provide a platform for freedom of expression and on-hands learning experience. Appropriate guidance about various career options is provided by qualified persons. Students are encouraged to take up courses leading to skilled jobs, viz ITI and Nursing. Hostels are provided for distant students at Thane and Shahapur.

The USP of Vidyadaan is thus the unique concept of mentorship, volunteers working on honorary basis, complete transparency and only 5% of donated funds being spent on administrative expenses. We try to reach the donors through various social media, to keep them updated about our various events by way of Quarterly bulletin.

The real torchbearers of VSM are its successful alumni who remain connected with VSM, the successful alumni also serve as role models to existing students.

VSM has 5 branches - Thane, Shahapur, Borivali, Pune and Nagpur, 319 students and 300 volunteers. The sixth branch at Aurangabad is planned to be operational by September 2020.
