Support Rural Adolescent Girls- Kanyaka Foundation

Project Description:
Kanyaka Foundation's multi-pronged approach centrally aligned with sustainable development goals focuses on providing holistic support to adolescent girls from rural areas to break the cycle of poverty. They have
partnered with various stakeholders, community members, field experts, sanitary pad suppliers, and recognized medical experts and mentors to provide this support.  

The Kanyaka Fellowship is aimed towards adolescent girls (10-19 years) from rural Maharashtra who lack the support and resources required to pursue their studies and a resulting fruitful career. The first cohort will select 50 girls from the Marathwada region who will be immersed in a year-long program where they will be supported by dedicated mentors, medical experts, and on-field support. The project is also aimed to support 1000 girls in menstrual, mental health and provide career guidance and mentoring.

Purpose:
1. Improve life skills and 21st-century skills
2. Provide dedicated mentor support on a regular basis
3. Create an ecosystem of support by engaging and partnering with local CBOs, SHGs, groups, and NGOs in supporting the ground implementation
4. Encourage, build communication skills, provide support in drawing future ambitions, and,develop leadership competencies of girl’s
5. Support in mental and menstrual health to reduce mental stress and anemia issues.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Support in program design, communication, and data analysis
2. Assist in proposal writing
3. Help in design fundraising campaign

Location: Virtual 

Time Commitment:
1. 2-3 hours in a day
2. The total time frame of the volunteering: From September 2020 to December 2020.

About NGO: 
Kanyaka Foundation is a registered not-for-profit organization working in rural Maharashtra on addressing education, livelihood, and health challenges for adolescent girls. The pilot project currently runs in Marathwada, Maharashtra with 20 adolescent girls. The organization has been working since 2014 towards uplifting the marginalized communities and migrants, on SDGs 3, 4, and 5 (Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education and Gender Equality). The organization has been established by professional social workers with the aim to empower every girl, child, and prepare them to eradicate poverty. Thei team includes people from diverse backgrounds with a passion for working on an inclusive education system.
