Founders' Day - Food Donation
On the occasion of Punyatithi of our beloved BABUJI on 28 December 2021, The Welspun Corp Limited Employees of Raisen under We-Volunteer celebrated Founder's Day program with women and children at Bheel Tola of village Kayampur. On this occasion, we distributed food packets and water bottles to villagers including children, women and senior citizens. The event was organized with the support of WFHK.
Approx. 100 villagers including female and kids assembled and received the food packets, which were donated by Mr. Godfrey John (CEO), Brig. Atul Kumar Wahi (Retainer Director, Ethics), Mr. J. N. Vyas (Ex-MD-MPIDC), Mr. Dharmesh Kumar (Unit Head), Mr. Shyamal Mahapatra (AVP –Marketing – DI Pipes) and other senior members. This Founder's Day program brought a huge smile on the faces of villagers (especially Kids). When they were celebrating this special day for the first time, their faces were blooming like flowers. All the women and children were very happy eating delicious food. Also the bright faces of the children gave a positive energy to all who presence the entire program. All the villagers especially women whole heartedly thanked the entire “We-Volunteer”

Cloth Donation Drive by WCL Bhopal
Welspun Foundation Health & Knowledge conducted a Cloth donation drive from 25 to 30 November 2021 under 'We Volunteer - WCL, Bhopal'. After a cloth collection campaign, the clothes were distributed to the needy people of Kayampur village on 1st December 2021. This event was dedicated to the birthday of Babuji.
More than 394 reusable clothes, including Blankets, sweaters, trousers & shirts and children's warm wears, were collected from 40 employees completing 53 volunteering hours. The clothes were donated to more than 50 tribal families.
Feedback from the village: “It has been good for us and our families especially the elderly in the winter season. We are grateful to all the volunteers for supporting us as guardians." said Nan Sing Khoy (Senior Citizen).
World Environment Day 2021 - Reimagine, Recreate & Restore

About 50 volunteers from Vapi participated in the plantation drive and planted more than 150 plants - outdoor and indoor. Community engagement was ensured through the Wel-Netrutva team by taking pledge and participating in plantation drives. Apart from plantation activity, Wel-Shiksha team also ensured children’s participation through essay writing on World Environemnt Day 2021 |
A painting session with the theme of ‘Environment Day’ was held for the women of the nearby villages of Khambra and Sinogara. More than 250 employees voluntarily participate in different activities by taking oath for ecosystem restoration through minimizing polythene use and water usage. At the Welspun-2 campus volunteers planted more than 250 plants of species like Plumeria alba and Millettia pinnata. |

TINY SEEDS GROW MIGHTY TREES

“I always dreamed of doing business at a large scale and “Wel-Netrutva” provided wings to this dream to come true” says Shradha Reddy, a native of Karnataka who shifted to Anjar (Kutchh) almost 14 years ago after getting married.
She is passionately ambitious about her business and wants it to grow at a large scale. Focusing on her ambition, whenever time permitted from her household chores, she tried her hand in a number of activities ranging from running a food stall to sewing work.
Shradha was receiving small orders from industries for sewing uniforms and other tailoring work. She was gradually moving towards fulfilling her dreams, but the current pandemic shattered her dreams them. The lock down caused due to Covid -19 not only stopped her earnings, but she was forced to use her savings to meet daily household expenses. She was very disturbed and was desperately looking for some support that could help her revive her situation. Even in this challenging time, she never gave up on her ambition to become a successful woman entrepreneur.
It was during this phase that Welspun Foundation team conducted a SHG meeting in the community. Fortunately, Shradha was also a part of that meeting and the team immediately understood the conflicts and challenges faced by her. Shradha shared that she had received an order from one of the hospitals based in Ahmedabad to prepare aprons. She expressed the need for capital fund to complete this order which she promised to repay after receiving her remuneration. Welspun team without any further delay followed the approval process and gave her seed capital at no interest rate for a month. She completed the order of 100 aprons that enabled her to make a good profit out of it.
This seed fund truly proved a seed for Shradha to grow her business.
HEALTH, HYGIENE AND HAPPINESS
“Topics like menstruation is still considered a taboo, let alone discussing the matter openly with family members or with doctors. The lack of access and absence of awareness programs focusing on female hygiene in remote areas of the country has only made life a bit more challenging for young girls and women.”
“I am thankful to Welspun, the sessions organized by them not only gave me confidence but also helped me understand about best health practices for me and my family. The issue which they discussed, no one has ever talked about it. But now we will talk about these issues with our young girls so that it does not impact their health,” says Jyoti, a young woman from a remote village of Dewas.
Jyoti silently suffered abdominal pain and other feminine health related problems for many months. The stigma around it did not let her discuss her issues with her husband or any family member.
It was only when she joined one of the self-help group organized by Welspun Foundation under their initiative Wel-Netrutva, she understood the importance of health & hygiene and also got the courage to discuss her issue with the health outreach worker. The doctor prescribed her medicines and counseled her on MHM management and personal hygiene. Following doctor’s advice and instructions, proper diagnosis of her health issues could be addressed.
A step in the right direction led Jyoti to be fully cured and healthy.
