Volunteer Opportunity: Science Educator – Agastya International Foundation
Organization: Agastya International Foundation
Location: Hybrid (On-ground + Virtual Support)
Time Commitment: Minimum 12 hours (2–4 hours/week)
Grade: 6-9 Standard
Purpose of the Role:

To spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and build confidence among economically disadvantaged children and teachers from government schools across India.

To make hands-on, practical science education accessible and engaging for students in rural communities.

To foster a peer-to-peer learning culture that encourages exploration and collaborative learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Teach science to students from Grades 6 to 9 using Agastya’s interactive pedagogy (choose one grade or as recommended by the school).

Use session plans provided by Agastya to deliver concept-based lessons through models and engaging activities.

Develop models or arrange materials required to demonstrate science concepts effectively.

Involve local science teachers where possible, allowing them to observe and benefit from the sessions.

Donate the teaching models/materials to the school after your sessions for continued learning impact.
What We Expect From You:

A strong enthusiasm for teaching and learning

Fluency in English and the local language

A passion for working with children and educators

Basic knowledge of science concepts aligned with school curricula

The ability to simplify complex ideas and turn them into fun, hands-on models or activities
