A Diwali Gesture: From You to NGO
About the Activity:
Brought to you by iVolunteer and powered by Snapchat India, this Diwali-themed activity invites volunteers to participate in a unique, hands-on experience designed to inspire community engagement. Through the painting of diyas or coasters, writing letters to NGOs, and distributing these items with messages promoting an eco-friendly Diwali, the initiative brings the festive spirit directly to the doorsteps of NGO partners across Bengaluru.
Beyond celebration, this event serves as a gateway for volunteers to connect with NGOs in their local zones, helping them begin meaningful relationships that go beyond one-time activities. By the end of the initiative, a virtual connect session will bring all volunteers together to reflect, share experiences, and learn about the work of various NGOs.
Volunteer Role and Activity Flow:
- Painting Diyas/Coasters: Add creative, festive designs to diyas or coasters that will be gifted to NGO partners. Include eco-friendly Diwali messages to promote sustainable celebration.
- Write letters or notes of appreciation and encouragement, to accompany each gift item.
- Distribution to NGOs: Volunteers will personally deliver the painted diyas/coasters and letters to NGOs located in their zone, ensuring local engagement. During distribution, volunteers are encouraged to initiate conversations with NGO staff, learning about their work and building rapport.
- Awareness and Relationship Building: This experience is designed to help volunteers discover NGOs in their vicinity, encouraging long-term volunteering.
- Post-Activity Virtual Meet-Up: All participating volunteers will join a virtual session to share experiences, discuss the impact of their engagement, and learn about the broader network of NGO partners.
