Initially our focus was on finding adoptive families for such children and creating awareness for adoption across the country. These children placed with us, are cared for in a foster family, till they are adopted. Over the years IAPA has gone beyond adoption and reached out to children under different states of deprivation. In case of children lacking opportunities for education and all-round development, the same is facilitated through our Educational Sponsorship program. For children facing serious neglect or risk of separation from their families, the Family Preservation program ensures that the children continue to grow, either in their own family or in an alternative family within their kinship circle. Supportive Services, viz, Child Guidance Centre (CGC), Project for Developing Capacities, Vocational Training, Micro Finance, Medical and Higher Education assistance , ensure the all-round development of the child and empowerment of the family. Located in Mumbai and another rural location, we work with families as well as the community, to achieve our goals for children. What makes IAPA unique, is its holistic approach towards the welfare of children. Guidance, counselling and multiple supports provided by IAPA, ensure that every child in need of care, protection and education, gets the opportunity to thrive.

While education was perceived as an effective tool for upliftment of the underprivileged, developing an all-round personality and character is the tool for shaping the future generation. Each student is allotted a Mentor (guardian parent), who visits the mentee's house, meets his family and understands his background. This helps in winning the trust and confidence of the student as well as his family. While keeping track of the mentee's academics, the mentor provides a strong psychological support too. Nurturing is an on-going process at VSM. Annual events and Workshops are planned, taking into consideration the needs, capabilities and ambitions of the students. Events like Be Frank and Residential Camps provide a platform for freedom of expression and on-hands learning experience. Appropriate CAREER GUIDANCE about various career options is undertaken by qualified persons. Students are encouraged to take up courses leading to skilled jobs, viz ITI and Nursing. Hostels are provided for distant students at Thane and Shahapur. The USP of Vidyadaan is thus the unique concept of mentorship, volunteers working on honorary basis, complete transparency and only 5% of donated funds being spent on administrative expenses. We try to reach the donors through various social media, to keep them updated about our various events by way of Quarterly bulletin. The real torchbearers of VSM are its successful alumni who remain connected with VSM, the successful alumni also serve as role models to existing students. VSM has 5 branches - Thane, Shahapur, Borivali, Pune and Nagpur, 319 students and 300 volunteers. The sixth branch at Aurangabad is planned to be operational by September 2020.
