Help Primary Care Givers with their Work
Purpose: Primary Care Givers taking care of chronically ill or palliative care relatives in their homes do not get respite from their duties. Volunteers will take over these responsibilities for 3-4 hours so that the primary care giver gets a break from their routine.
Location: Anywhere in Mumbai at residential home and may include Hospital visits depending on location.
Key Responsabilities:
Must be willing to be subjected to police verification and submission of proof documents since this is a visit to someone's personal home.
1) Take care of the patient and shoulder all the responsibilities in the absence of the Primary Care Giver.
2) Help Primary Care Givers enjoy normal routine life and cope better with their responsibilities.
Volunteer Description:
Older person preferably 40+ to just retired adults with some personal experience of life changing events around health care issues. Should be non-judgemental and empathatic. Know smart phone use. Comfortable in Indian Languages, the more the better. Hindi essential.
Time Commitment:
Minimum 3-4 hours atleast once per month any day of the week. It is very important that whatever the roster selected, the person should follow on the agreed-upon committed schedule and not ask for constant changes.
Support Provided:
For Respite Care volunteers, 2 day training in respite care including handling emergencies after clearing police verification.
Certificates will be provided to committed volunteers.
