VI Field Trip Support Squad

TITLE: Volunteers to organize and support on field trips and industry exposure visits for students

Project Description: Visually impaired students require volunteer support to accompany them during field trips organized by HTBF and partner organizations, to ensure that the intended outcomes from these experiences are achieved in the safest manner possible. Generally, HTBF will take care of the sourcing, planning, organizing and execution of these opportunities for students. The main support from the volunteers would be to accompany the students, provide reinforcement as needed to HTBF trainers who are deployed to oversee these experiences, ensure good participation from students and ensure a safe and secure learning environment. However, HTBF welcomes volunteers who would like to go the extra mile and take initiative on sourcing and organizing these experiences for students.

Purpose: In addition to their regular educational curriculum and the employability training that they undergo, we aim to provide students exposure to real world situations where they can practically utilize the skills and knowledge that they have gained. From taking the metro, to navigating their way through a mall on their own, to visiting corporates and heritage sites in their cities, we aim to provide various avenues for students to promote their holistic development.

Key Responsibilities of the volunteers:

  1. Accompany the students, provide reinforcement as needed to HTBF trainers who are deployed to oversee these experiences, ensure good participation from students and ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
  2. Go the extra mile by sourcing and organizing such opportunities to promote learning outside the walls of the classroom for students.

Skills and Experience Required (If any):

  1. Able to commit time when such opportunities emerge, ability to communicate effectively and coordinate various parts of the field trip if/when needed
  2. Enthusiastic in engaging with students and attentive to their needs
  3. Prior experience with sourcing, planning and organizing field trips/offsite events is definitely a plus point, but not a pre-requisite
  4. Prior experience volunteering with visually impaired individuals is definitely a plus point, but not a pre-requisite – this is a great learning opportunity for everyone who wants to partake

Location: In person (within your own city)

Time Commitment: Full day commitment when such opportunities emerge, volunteers are required end to end from before the students arrive all the way till the last student has departed for their home/hostel

Number of Volunteers: 10 volunteers, preferably residing in Tier 1/2 cities and/or who can connect us with organizations in Tier 1/2 cities, where there is a sizeable concentration of beneficiaries who are supported by HTBF (such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad etc.)
