Teach Children Spoken English
Purpose: BCPT works with 900 schools across Mumbai including Bhayander and Thane suburbs. They have developed a curriculum that includes audio-visual tools and have full time paid facilitators working in the schools alongside teachers. Currently, the State Board curriculum has undergone changes and that developed by BCPT has to undergo changes as well. A good amount of money had been spent on it. They now need volunteers to specifically teach English communication to these young students who are primarily comfortable in their vernacular languages.
Location: Government schools, low-income private schools or NGO- managed residential homes and schools in and around Mumbai including Thane and Bhayander.
Key Responsabilities:
1) Teach English communication to young children upto the 5th standard.
2) Curriculum will be provided by the NGO
Volunteer Skills:
1) Comfortable speaking good quality English, comfortable in Hindi
2) Comfortable using audio-visual tools in teaching
3) Comfortable teaching young children upto 5th grade
4) Willing to innovate and take initiative to meet goals
5) Patience with children
Time Commiment:
Atleast 2-3 times a week, either during school hours or after school or Saturdays, depending on the kind of educational institute assigned and Volunteer's time.
Support Provided:
| Curriculum and audio-visual tools provided to teach spoken English fluency. Facilitator available in educational institutes who will guide and help the Volunteer. |
